Semper Sursum...

I'm sulking.... it's official..... ever since monday when I weighed myself --- after an amazing first week I have lost the grand total of half a kilo and I'm totally pissed off with myself. The result I went completely off the tracks and headed straight into chocolate town..... a large bag of M&Ms later and several days later I'm feeling better especially as the sneaky daily weigh ins show that I'm slowly edging down. Maybe I'll make that kilo by next monday.

Perhaps having monday as my weigh in day is the problem - well the problem couldn't be me could it? In order to be successful I need to have a temptation free weekend and stay on the plan, actually I just need a temptation free life, but that would be rather boring.

So the grand plan has come off the rails in the first week, c'est la vie. Well it's thursday now and I've sulked enough. Had a nice cooked breakfast this morning followed by a 2 mile walk to set me up for the day. Bit the bullet and filled in yesterday's chart including two pub meals - ouch - and was pleasantly surprised that I came in on track thanks to the points gained with yesterday's walk.

Now, just in case you think I've got the exercise bug - I've not.  The reason for the walk was to accompany the little one to school as the cheeky so and so has taken to knocking on the neighbour's doors and asking for a lift to school, when I refuse to drive him! Kids today! So the walk is partly me being bloody minded and making sure he walks to school, the downside is that I also have the mile trek back and it's uphill, but oh so good for the soul!

Late night posting

Made it through another day - bit tricky keeping to the eating plan, but managed to fit in a couple of chocolate chip biscuits at a friend's coffee morning in aid of the Children's Society (eating for a good cause, but I didn't buy any of the cakes on sale!) and a fish shop fish with half a portion of chips this evening. Had to compensate for this by leaving most of the chips and then going on a couple of miles walk to gain back some exercise points. I knew exercise would come into the equation somewhere, but there is nothing like fish and chips eaten in the open air!

What is it about being on a diet that makes you think of food all the time?

Surreal visit to the Dentist

Now nobody really enjoys going to the dentist - do they? My visit this morning bordered on the surreal - it was more like Dentists - The Musical. There I was lying on the chair exposing my molars to all and sundry with my dentist singing along to the music playing in the background. From time to time his assistant would chip in with a few harmonies and choruses - surreal or what?

Day Two

Still raring to go. I did spend yesterday doing a bit of tidying up -- the littleun thought it was his birthday when he got the green light to demolish the remainder of his easter eggs. "What in one go?" was his delighted response. So the chocolate mountain lurking in the kitchen cupboard has been removed. My husband also pitched in with that packet of hand made Yorkshire crisps that had been lurking around all holidays and accompanied us on at least three picnics. Don't know why, they tasted all right to me, as I sampled them.

So raring to go, fortified with a hearty breakfast I have taken the plunge and am now £40 lighter and a fully paid up member of weight watchers online for the next three months!

The news didn't really get any better. The bathroom scales have, unfortunately dried out, and it's official - half of me is fat! So the challenge is on.

I've set myself a challenging, but achievable goal for the next 12 weeks to lose 10Kg of weight - that's just under 1Kg a week. I strongly suspect exercise may have to come into the equation and I don't suppose that bowling and tennis on the Wii are going to count for too much.

Dinner tonight will be chicken paella, followed by jelly and fruit. I'm feeling hungry already and its not yet 10.30. Must be time for morning coffee. I wonder if the littleun missed any of those easter eggs?

Blog Yourself Slim

It's strange what you find to read in other people's bathrooms -- sometimes it's the glossy aspirational photo homes stuff, or the bitsy Readers Digest with its informative slightly voyeuristic articles and quick quips at the bottom of every page. In this particular bathroom I found magazines on catching big goldfish - ok angling for carp, and an unfamiliar publication which contained an article on blogging yourself slim.

Well over the last 30 years I have tried, succeeded and failed on every diet plan going - from F-plan through Atkins, grapefruit, cabbage, to WeightWatchers, Slimmers World and you name it. Needless to say I'm still carrying a few extra kilos..... can't tell you exactly how many as the 10 year old suddenly got a rush of hormones, begged to spend his pocket money on testosterone smelling shower gel and developed a suddenly liking for showers. May have something to do with going back to school tomorrow. The consequence is that the super duper tell your weight and body fat machine in the bathroom is still drying out and refusing to tell anyone even the time of day, let alone the state of their body fat!

So, full of enthusiasm I'm giving it a go. This is the start of blogging my way thin - I shall be enlisting the help of WeightWatchers online curtesy of the £20 off offer that popped through my mailbox this morning:

https://www.weightwatchers.co.uk/signup/StepOne.aspx

and I've dug out my Paul McKenna hypnosis CD and popped it onto my phone for those odd moments of quiet contemplation, and those desperate, climb up the wall, do anything for a piece of chocolate times.

So - off we jolly well go!
